Universidad Central de Venezuela

 Description

The Central University of Venezuela (UCV) is a public university of Venezuela, being one of the largest student population and productive importance. Founded in 1721, it is the oldest institution of higher education in the country. Its main office, the University City of Caracas, was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 2000.

According to a study conducted at the Latin American level by QS World University Rankings for 2016, the UCV is ranked number 1 nationally, while ranking 18th in Latin America.1

In 2009, it had over sixty thousand undergraduate and graduate students, six thousand professors and about eight thousand administrative and service employees, two of whom form nine faculties in Caracas; 2, in Maracay and the Nucleus of Engineering in Cagua (Aragua State), 5 nuclei of supervised university studies and 12 experimental stations in different localities of the Republic.
